6 Reasons to Stay at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa

This year my family went on an epic adventure. We took our first ever RV Trip. Knowing that we’d be spending a week in tight quarters, the night before we got on the road we stayed in a two bedroom suite at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa. It was luxurious. Wishing we had more than just 24 hours on the property, we set out to see and do as much as possible. Next time we are in the Jacksonville area, we will be sure to stay here longer.

Set on sixty-five acres in Ponte Vedra, the Sawgrass Marriott Resort and Spa is an excellent choice for an active family vacation. It has been recently refreshed with a multi-million dollar renovation. With so many beautiful outdoor spaces on the sprawling property, everyone in your family will be able to find something to do.

Surf Stream

Without ever having to step foot in the ocean, you can learn to surf at the Sawgrass Marriott. Both amateur and experienced riders will love the new Surf Stream, a standing wave machine that keeps the curl in one place. It is perfect for both surfing and boogie boarding. They have everything you need on-site to ride the wave including helmets, elbow and knee pads and even extra rash guards.Surf Stream Saw Grass Marriott

Beach Club

The Cabana Beach Club is just a short, complimentary shuttle bus ride away. Located on the white sands of Ponte Vedra Beach and the Atlantic Ocean, guests can rent kayaks, sailboats, surfboards, and bikes. It also boasts an Olympic-sized pool, kids pool, and hot tub. For casual oceanfront dining try Sharkey’s or the Sea Porch Bar and Grill.Cabana Beach Club

Pools

There are plenty of places to swim at the Sawgrass Marriot. In addition to the Cabana Beach Club Pool, there are three other pools at the resort. The Sawgrass Spa Adult Pool, the family pool, and the lagoon pool. Our sun conscience family appreciated the large umbrellas and natural shade provided by the large trees.

Resort guests enjoy privileged access to the club’s two championship golf courses. However, you don’t need to play the famous TPC® Sawgrass links to enjoy golf at the Sawgrass Marriott. Kids will love playing the free miniature golf course that even has kid-sized golf clubs.TPC Sawgrass Golf

After dinner at Alice & Pete’s Pub, we tried the 65-yard Floating Hole challenge. It is a replica of world famous 17th Hole at TPC. My husband and son bought a few balls and took turns hoping to land their golf balls right on the island. I am sorry to report neither of them got a hole-in-one which would have earned them the chance to win a one night stay and a $100 resort credit towards a future stay at the hotel.Sawgrass Floating Hole Challenge

Spa

Sawgrass Marriott Spa

Although I didn’t have time to try it, I took a peek at the recently renovated Sawgrass Marriott Spa. You can bet I will be returning for some pampering at the 25,000 sq. foot full-service spa. It has nineteen treatment rooms, a fitness center and a Blow Dry Bar! The outdoor heated pool is for adult spa guests.

Dining choices are plentiful at the Sawgrass Marriott. Many of the restaurants have outdoor seating options so you can take advantage of the views. In addition to 619 Ocean View beach club which sits right on the Atlantic, the American Gator Club overlooks the tranquil lagoon and 13th hole of The Stadium Course at TPC® Sawgrass. Enjoy breakfast at Vernon’s spectacular floor to ceiling windows and view of the property.

Although there is so much to do in at the resort you make feel like you never need to leave, be sure to get out an explore the Jacksonville, Florida. There is so much to do in the area.

I hear you about the spa. Was disappointed not to fit in a treatment but glad to see it. It will be my first stop on my next visit!

  4. We love our local Marriott spa. Hopefully I will fit this in if I get here. That definitely would have helped you with the RV ride!

Yes, perhaps I should have scheduled the stay for after a week in the RV and made it a point to get to the spa!

  5. Marriott is my go-to hotel chain, and Jacksonville is on a list of ten up & coming US travel destinations I just wrote about, so I’ve pinned this post for my trip there!

  6. The Sawgrass Marriott looks like a great family getaway with a promise of lots of fun. I particularly was interested in the surf stream. Would be great to learn the ropes of surfing here.

It was a very cool way to learn to surf. Just the day before we tried to learn to surf in the ocean with Jax Paddle and Surf. I think learning in the ocean is harder because the waves are inconsistent. This surf stream keeps the curl in place and steady the whole time.

  7. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with us, Dana. It looks like you really got to enjoy all that our resort has to offer! We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Thank you! It was a pleasure. I just wished I had more time there. 24 hours was not nearly enough with all that the Sawgrass Marriott has to offer!

Julie I think you and Charles will love it! We stayed in the villa style suites, however, I took a tour of the newly renovated rooms in the main building and they are really beautiful.

  10. I am excited to see that you can learn surfing here. The property looks great. I am sure you had a memorable time.

  11. That Marriott property looks lovely! I had no idea it was near Jacksonville. I would have guessed South Florida where the other Sawgrass (mall, expressway, etc.) are. What a fun trip RV’ing. 😉
